The Diamond Open Access model, i.e., publishing which is scholarly-led and scholarly-owned at no cost to writers or readers, has seen a new uptake and a lot of visibility in academic publishing and funding during the past few years. This article provides a general overview of current European developments based on ongoing EU-funded projects on Diamond Open Access and institutional publishing. In particular, it points to the role of the European OPERAS network for Social Sciences and Humanities in this development, explains the services being developed to support publication platforms and discusses how institutional publishing can be integrated into the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
