Abstract

The University and State Library Darmstadt houses important old collections such as many thousands of manuscripts and incunabula but also valuable estates and maps. The Department of Collection Preservation, which was restructured in 2019, is dedicated not only to the everyday tasks of preserving the original collections, but also to the transfer of expertise. In order to ensure the further training of its own staff, but also to pass on knowledge to other specialists, regular "workshops on conservation" have been established.
