Makerspace-Toolboxen für Bibliotheken in der Schweiz

In this paper, we present mobile makerspace toolboxes which can be ordered by small Swiss public libraries to conduct their own makerspace events as well as the preliminary results of a survey on the usage of these boxes. Contrary to predictions from the literature, it is shown that – although libraries are overwhelmingly happy with them – makerspaces in libraries do not lead to significant changes in their offers: Most events focus on the trying out of the technologies by users. The targeted audiences are mostly children and families. Libraries integrated the makerspace toolboxes into their already established practices.
