Abstract

Every year over 500.000 trainees start their apprenticeship. Nearly a third of them resign their contracts – not all of them because they want to change their position or go to university. Often, the reasons are problems with the traineeship itself or with the trainer behind. Some of these problems could be avoided by a professional onboarding. The article shows which elements are parts of this and how it can be applied into practice, taking as an example the Public Library of Central Berlin (Stadtbibliothek Berlin-Mitte).
